JAMMU: Movement for Justice for Refugees of POJK-1947 (MJR-47) urged State Government to constitute a separate board for refugees which should look to all problems of this class who are suffering for the last more than six decades.
MJR-47 held a meeting of its executive members under the chairmanship of J.S Sudan, Convener, here at Miran Sahib on Monday to review latest status of providing relief to displaced families.
The participants took strong note of decisions taken by Cabinet Coordination Committee meeting held under Dy. Chief Minister in which apart from others a decision was taken to constitute a welfare board for West Pakistan Refugees.
“It is really shocking that while the committee deliberated on almost all other category of DP’s/Refugees and even Valley migrants but ignored and kept silent on issue of POJK 1947 refugees who are the first and prime victims of Kashmir problem and having suffered far more than any other DP/migrants. It is shameful that the BJP-PDP dispensation put the file of POJK-1947 Refugees in some closet and not moved an inch since the previous government had recommended a relief package for Rs.9096 crores to the Union Government,” he stated.
He said the State Government has even failed to reply on the queries made by the Home Ministry on the package lying pending for the last six months. At ground level no record of PoK refugees is available in the Custodian-cum-PRO Office at Jammu, he added.
Sudan appealed to the government to announce the high level committee of ministers, and constitute a separate board for POJK-1947 Refugees which look after the problems of 1947 refugees.
He urged the Government both in the State and at Centre to take note of it and restore justice to refugees who are the prime victim of 1947 lest they are forced to take an agitational path to get justice after waiting for 68 years.
The meeting was attended by Suchwant Singh, Dr. Padam Dev Raina, O.P Khajuria, K.L Sudan, Bodh Raj Sharma, Raghbir Singh Mehta and Jasmeet Singh.
