JAMMU: Congress workers on Sunday held a protest over the poor medical facilities prevailing in J and K State in general and erstwhile district Doda in particular. The strike was led by Secretary Publicity, Jammu and Kashmir Congress Committee, Nadeem Sharief Niaz.
Addressing the gathering, Nadeem alleged the health department restricted 100 beded hospital Gondoh, Bhallessa to a 50-bed one and reduced the allocation of Rs 300 lakh from Bhadarwah Hospital which were sanctioned for construction of residential quarters for doctors.
“District Doda being a remote area of the State needs special medical attention since for every unfortunate accidents, injured are airlifted to GMC Jammu but on the contrary State Government is reducing funds which have already been sanctioned by Ghulam Nabi Azad, the then Union Health Minister keeping in view the genuine requirements of various hospitals and dispensaries of district Doda,” Nadeem said and demanded that State Govt should rollback order of restricting funds which have been sanction by previous government or else people will be left with no choice other than agitation.
“Union Government which is in alliance with PDP had claimed that if voted to power in State their leader with 56 inch chest will safeguard the interest of public which has proved hollow slogan,” he alleged.
Krishan Chand Sapolia, Firdous Ahmed Malik, Shiv Narayan Chib, Waseem Jallal, Omkar Singh, Haji Hasham, Choudhary Sainu, Bharat Bhushan, Roshan Din, Sandeep Sharma, Sharafat Malik and Lyakat Hussain were also present in the protest.
