JAMMU: To felicitate women achievers of the State, the Performers- Group of Art and Culture, organised a function, here on Sunday.
The great woman achievers award ceremony was held at Police auditorium.
Minister of State for Information, Education and Culture, Priya Sethi presided over the function and MLC Surinder Chowdhary was Guest of Honour.
The function started with lighting the traditional lamp and a religious cultural item was also presented on the occasion.
Priya Sethi while addressing the gathering said that the performers group is doing well in the field of culture, and more is needed to bring out hidden art from the aspiring candidates. She wished well to Urja Singh for her tireless efforts in the field of art and culture and assured every possible help for the sake of culture and art.
She said women have excelled in every field and need of the hour is to give encouragement to the girl child so that she can prove her talent.
Surinder called for supporting the cause of recognizing women achievers.
The performers, President Urja Singh extended gratitude to guests and audience for making the function successful.
Life time achievement award was given to Shakuntla Kotwal. Those who were awarded include Hemla Aggarwal in Education, Dr Osmani Suidha in Medicine, Anju Gupta in Sports, Reeta Yousf in Radio, Susham Sharma in theatre and TV, Shakti in Police, Usha Kher Tikoo in Traffic Police, Manju Gupta an Entrepreneur, Kanchan Sharma in Journalism, Veenat Thakur in Fashion Design, Tina Mahajan a BDO, Seema Aggarwal a Social Worker, Kailash Mehra a singer, Priya Sethi in Politics, Morinder Mehta a Housewife, Kirti Goyal a CA and Shaista Hakeem in Judiciary.
