UDHAMPUR: Girls of Ramnagar Zone won opening under-14 and under-17 volleyball match defeating Jib Zone and Udhampur Zone respectively in the District Level Inter Zonal Tournament for U/14 and 17 (Girls) got underway at Sports Stadium Udhampur.
The tournament held in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Volleyball and Kho-Kho, was declared open by Chief Guest, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, District Development Commissioner Udhampur with a cultural bonenza presented by Dhoom Dance Academy Udhampur.
Chief Education Officer Bishan Singh, Project Director Chenani Tunnelways Udhampur, J.S Rathore and Security Consultant, Seva Singh were the Guests of honour on the occasion.
The Chief Guest exhorted upon the participants to participate in such sports competitions to make physically and mentally strong in the society. He also assures the participants to provide all the sports facilities to the students to boost the sports activities in the district and state level.
About 400 girls drawn from different 9 zones of the District Udhampur are participating in the tournament.
The tournament is being organized under the patronage of Jahangir Mir, Director General Youth Services and Sports, J and K and chairmanship of Sunil Singh Sambyal, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Udhampur.
The matches were officiated by Kuldeep Kumar, Raj Kumar Gupta, Rakesh Modi, Raj Kumar, Romesh Chander, Pushp Sharma, Raman Kumar, Bandana Sharma, Rishi Kumar Sharma, Vikrant Balgotra.
Among others who were present on the occasion were Savtantar Dev Kotwal, Subash Sharma, Ram Lal Badyal, Suresh Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Santosh Kumari, Satish Kumar, Poonam Sharma, Anita Goswami, Jaswinder Singh, Parminder Manhas, Ajit Singh, Swarndeep Singh Tara, Ajay Sharma, Som Dev Khajuria, Des Raj Sharma, Parshotam Kumar and Karun Magotra.
Later, the Chief Guest distributed Sports Kits to the deserving students presented by J.S Rathore Project Director Chenani Tunnel ways. He also distributed the consolation prizes to the Dhoom Dance Academy Udhampur, Scouts and guides of Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Udhampur and Band troop of Modern High School Dhanori.

Under-17: Volleyball: Ramnagar Zone defeated Udhampur Zone. Kabaddi: Majalta Zone beat Udhampur Zone. Kho-Kho: Udhampur Zone outplayed Majalta Zone.
