JAMMU: Congress workers paid tributes to country’s first Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru on his 51st death anniversary on Wednesday.

In a function held at PCC headquarters, the Senior Congress leaders paid rich tributes Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru and recalled his great contribution in the freedom struggle of the county to shape up the future policies of the modern India on all fronts.

The function was presided over by Senior Vice President PCC Sham Lal Sharma and attended by senior leaders prominent among them were Vice President PCC Raman Bhalla; General Secretaries PCC Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma and Vikram Malhotra; President DCC Jammu (U) Anil Chopra; Secretary PCC Neeraj Gupta; Salman Nizami, Sanjeev Sharma and functionaries DCC, leader of frontal organizations, block presidents pay floral tributes  to Pt. Nahru and described him as a great visionary leader who laid sound policies for the future of great nation.

The policies which were framed by Pt. Nehru’s stewardship are the guiding principles for this country on all important fields. They said Nehru laid the foundation of independent India as the first Prime Minister. He was one of the tallest leaders of the World under whose stewardship India progressed on all fronts and played a very important role in the affairs of the World.

They said that the devotion to democracy was one of Nehru’s political principal and the building of a democratic, social and political system was one of his principal objectives. For him political democracy was a means of solving social problems. He was architect of Non Aligned Movement (NAM) a third force in the World organization to finish the domination of big powers. Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru was a competent administrator, a successful planner, a visionary thinker, an author and World statesman. They said that Pt. Nehru provided political stability to the establishment of Indian democracy.

Prominent others who paid tributes included Ch. Sukh Dev Singh, Madan Lal Malagar, Dr. Ramakant Khajuria, Pawan Dev Singh, Kirti Gupta, Govrav Chopra, M.M Sharma, Singh Manhas, Parshotam Kumar, Kartar Singh, Bodh Raj Sharma, Abdul Rashid, Anand Kishore Gandotra, Govind Singh and Mohinder Lal.
