Protest to seek restoration of power, NH blocked

UDHAMPUR: Residents of T. Morh locality of Udhampur, including women and children, staged a road blockade disrupting vehicular traffic for an hour on Wednesday night demanding immediate solution to the power supply problem.
According to sources, there was no power supply in this area for the past three days and despite numerous representations the situation was not set right by the officials.
Hence, at about 9:00 PM on Wednesday, more than 100 residents of the area squatted on Jammu-Srinagar National Road.
On learning that the public have launched an agitation, SHO Udhampur Arjun Chib and officials from Power Development Department rushed to the spot to hold talks with them.
On the assurance of the officials that power supply would be restored to the area, the agitators dispersed.
Others who were present during the protest include Rakesh Sharma, Sarpanch Gurmet Singh, T.Mode President Sanjay Gupta, Pawanjeet Mehra, Pushpa Devi, Kamal Kumar, Ravi Gupta, Rajesh Kumar and Deepak Arora.
