JAMMU: Organised by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, the annual sports meet for teachers and officers of the University of Jammu (JU) got underway at Gymnasium Hall on the campus, here on Monday.
The opening day witnessed preliminary round of the competition in two events of badminton, table tennis and carom. Earlier, the event was declared open by Chairman Campus Sports Committee and Director Sports and Physical Education, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau.
Prof Bhau interacted with the participants and wished them success. Today’s matches officiated by the technical penal comprising Ravish Vaid and Gagan Kumar.

BADMINTON: Vivek Slathia (Deputy Registrar) beat Raj Kumar (Department of Law) 21-14, 21-05; Goutam Sharma (Department of Sports and Physical Education) defeated Tarsem Singh (Department of of Law) 21– 18, 21– 15; Vikas Karlopia (Department of Sports and Physical Education) trounced Dr Sandeep Arya 21-10, 21-17; Vivek Slathia outplayed Vikesh Sharma 21-10, 21-05.
TABLE TENNIS: Prof. PV KS Baba beat Dr Shushil Sharma 11–08, 11–07.
CARROM: Raj Kumar Bakshi beat Akash Bhola 2 – 1; Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba beat Goutam Sharma 2 – 1; Ameet Tagotra beat Vikas Karlopia 2 – 0; Prof. PV KS Baba beat Dr. Sandeep Arya 2 – 0.
