CAP: PHE daily wagers’ staging protest in support of their demands at Jammu.

JAMMU: Kaam Chhoro Hartal of ITI-trained and CP workers of PHE Department was continued on Saturday.

A large number of workers staged protest at Chief Engineer Office BC Road under the banner of J and K PHE ITI Trained and CP Workers Union.

While addressing the protesters, President of the Union, Tanveer Hussain said, “We have been protested for the last many months but nothing concrete has been done for our regularization by the government.”

The protestors demanded regularisation policy for all casual labourers, ITI Trained, CP and need-based workers who have completed five years of their services.

The association also urged others organisations and daily wagers of all departments to come forward to take the struggle of their regularization to logical end.

Others present Deepak Gupta, Subhash Chander, Kulbushan Singh, Manjeet singh, Chandan Singh, Rakesh Kumar, Jeevan Singh, Gopal Singh, Parveen Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Ajay Samillya, Tilak Raj, Romy Verma, Mohd Yonis, Intkabh Hussain, Ashok Kumar, Yogesh, Dushant kumar, Mushtaq Ahmed, Maqbool Hussain, Mohan Lai, Kuldeep Choudhary, Raman Khajuria, Sanjay Kumar, Sajjad Ahmed Gani and Pankaj Singh.

Meanwhile, a delegation of PHE daily wagers and casual labourers met senior BJP leader Yudhvir Sethi and apprised him of the problems being faced by the daily rated workers.

The deputation brought to the notice of Yudhvir that over 60,000 wagers and casual labourers are working in various government departments in the State adding that hollow promises of regularisation and enhancement of wages were given by the previous governments and no salary has been released for the last two years.

Yudhvir assured the deputation that he will take up this matter with the PHE Minister Sukhnandan Choudhary. He said the government is alive to the problem and a comprehensive policy would be adopted to handle the long pending demand of daily wagers and casual labourers.
