ARMY PUBLIC SCHOOL NAGROTA ORGANISES TWO DAYS COUNSELLING WORKSHOPfffffffffffffffffffffffffff STATE TIMES NEWS
NAGROTA: Army Public School (APS), Nagrota organised Central Counselling Workshop of Northern Command from 21st to 22nd May 2015 at the school premises.
Maninder Kaur Kakkar, Principal of the School gave a warm welcome to the Resource Person Dr J.N Baliya, Assistant Professor Central University Jammu and the participants from APS Udhampur, APS Dhar Road, APS Rakhmuthi, APS Srinagar and APS Akhnoor.
Dr J.N Baliya in his presentation highlighted the Emerging Challenges in Teaching and The Importance of Counselling in Schools. He mentioned CBCS – Choice Based Credit System, it is a new policy coming soon that will be applied in schools and colleges in which students can choose any subject of their choice.
Shruti Singh, Counsellor APS Nagrota, enlightened all with the presentation on Teacher as Counsellor. She stressed on the need of identifying learning disabilities, ADHD – Autism and Behavioural Disorders, among children. She presented animated mind boggling ways how to empathise with special children.
She gave impressive presentation on Counselling Skills. She explained ‘Goals of Counselling in Schools’, ‘Basic Counselling Skills’ like positive regard, empathy, listening, responding skills and body language. She apprised all with informative knowledge on ethics of counselling about confidentiality of counselling cases.
Later counsellors from, APS Dhar Road, APS Rakhmuthi and APS Udhampur gave presentations on “Distracted Child”, “Multiple Intelligence” and “Slow Learnres” respectively. Brigadier Ajay H Chauhan, Chairman felicitated Dr. J.N Baliya and thanked him for sparing his valuable time.
The overall coordination of the programme was taken care of by Stuti Guleria (Academic Coordinator). The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by the Vice Principal, Avinash Mahajan and the Distribution of Certificates to all the participants by the Principal, Maninder Kaur Kakkar.
