JAMMU: Carrying forward the momentum of its pledged mission of ‘Fight for Jammu’, the JKNPP held a Dharna outside the office of Human Rights Commission at Jammu which was spearheaded by Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman NPP, Balwant Singh Mankotia President NPP and Yashpal Kundal President Young Panthers along with several other leaders and activists on Thursday.
Harsh Dev Singh termed the socio-political bias perpetuated against the Jammu region as a synonym of human rights violation of the Dogra-Pahari people.
He exhorted the people to get united and raise voice in unison in order to launch a decisive fight against the discrimination inflicted by the sinister BJP-PDP coalition and said that the people of Jammu region who had pinned high hopes from BJP were feeling extremely disappointed over the highly timid approach of the Saffron Party towards the issues of Jammu region as well as the concerns of unemployed youth.
He said that while the fight for AIIMS and artificial lake project over Tawi had to continue, there were several issues on which the BJP had compromised at the cost of its kernel dogma and ideology.
He said that the issues of New Recruitment Policy, state Subject for West Pak Refugees, voting rights to them in Assembly and local bodies polls, State govt. jobs for such WPRs, issuance of Dogra Certificate to Jammu youth, State Subject for children of daughters of J&K married outside, empowerment of Jammu, abolition of custodian Deptt. and conferment of ownership rights to its occupants, gainful employment for educated unemployment youth, etc only pertained to the human rights violation of the people of Jammu region which were incorporated in the Saffron Party’s elections manifesto before ascending to power. He however regretted that the BJP’s pre-poll promises turned into post poll somersaults thus belying all hopes and aspirations of the Jammu people.
Further, drawing the attention of BJP-PDP towards their tall commitments for empowerment of the youth, Harsh Dev regretted the pitiable plight and most shabby treatment being doled out to the daily rated, casual, need based, contingent and contractual workers, NYC volunteers, SPOs besides the gang coolies who were deprived of their hard earned wages for the last several months. He said that the alliance partners who had been making loud pronouncements of ending all forms of exploitation of youth and working class and regularization of all daily wagers at the time of elections had in fact ignored them completely by withholding their wages thus resulting in starvation of their families. He demanded the revocation of controversial Govt. order no. 384 GAD of 2015 relating to termination of casual, need based and other contingent workers said that the incumbent employees proposed to be dis-engaged have been performing their duties for the last 10-20 yrs on meager wages and their termination would tell severely upon their very existence.
