JAMMU: The workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena led by State President Ashok Gupta took out a procession against the PDP-BJP coalition Government move over shifting of AIIMS to Kashmir and shelving of artificial lake project in Jammu.

Protesters amidst anti-government slogans burned  effigies of the government.

Ashok Gupta said that since inception of coalition Government, discrimination with Jammu has become more common. Every now and then anti-national in general and anti-Jammu statements in particular are given by the leadership who are voted for power, he stated.

He added that Jammuites have given full mandate to BJP in anticipation of good governance and betterment of the people in Jammu province, but it is very unfortunate that immediately after taking oath in the presence of national level leadership of BJP Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had given credit to militants as well as Pakistan for smooth conduct of elections in the State which was widely condemned by the masses, but the elected representatives kept mum.

He said that the statement of Chief Minister regarding non-feasibility of artificial lake in Jammu and non-construction of AIIMS in Jammu is nothing but discrimination with Jammu as the Kashmir-centric leadership does not want to see any development of Jammu province.

On the issue of prestigious multi-crore artificial lake project on river Tawi which is aimed at beautification of the City of Temples in order to attract the tourist and pilgrims visiting the State, Gupta said the decision of the State Government is most unfortunate and condemnable.

“The decision is absurd when around Rs 55 crores have already been spent and the project was to be completed in March 2016,” he said adding, that there is no justification for abandoning the project after spending crores of rupees and completing most of the important components of the project.

If the decision has been taken to appease Pakistan who might have objected on the construction of the lake on Tawi, then it’s really unfortunate and a probe must be held on this and a white paper must be issued on this explaining the factors for the cancelling of the Lake project, Ashok Gupta stated.

The Party president said his party would launch an agitation to make sure that the people of Jammu get back their rights.

“We will fight till the last drop of our blood. We are not against the setting up of AIIMS in Kashmir, but we will fight until Jammu also gets AIIMS.

The party activists present were Suresh Chinotra, Prem, Tony, Raj, Raj Singh, Surinder, Roop, Prem Lal, Sudhir, Surjeet, Geeta, Sudesh and Abhishek.
