JAMMU: The work in the State High Court Jammu Wing as well as District Court Jammu was paralysed on Monday as the lawyers abstained from work on the issue of shifting of AIIMS to Kashmir.
Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association (JKHCBA) has meanwhile extended its strike for another day.
A meeting has also been fixed for Tuesday to garner support and discuss the further course of action in which representatives of political, non-political, social and religious organisations are likely to participate.
Addressing a meeting here on Monday, President JKHCBA Abhinav Sharma criticised Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for his stand on shifting AIIMS to Kashmir. He said that establishment of AIIMS in Jammu was central Government’s obligation and Mufti’s role in the matter was insignificant. The meeting also condemned Deputy Chief Minister for remaining quite in the matter as the statement of Mufti on AIIMS came in his presence.
The members of the J and K High Court Bar Association, Jammu took serious exception of the role  being played by the elected representatives from Jammu Province particularly those sharing power in the Government.
The meeting also condemned the contradictory remarks made by the Chief Minister and Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Choudhary Sukhnandan on artificial lake issue.
In the meeting, it was also decided that work in all the Courts shall remain suspended tomorrow. The other District and Muffasils Bar Associations of Jammu Province i.e. Kathua, Samba, Kishtwar, Hiranagar, Ramban, Akhnoor, Reasi, Udhampur, etc have also decided to abstain from work tomorrow.
