Jammu: GD Goenka Public School, Jammu on Tuesday organised inter-school judo tournament in the school premises.
Students from six schools namely JK Public School, SOS Herman School, KC International School, Jammu Sanskriti School, BSF School and the host G D Goenka Public School participated in the tournament.
The ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the lamp of knowledge by the Chief Guest, Sunaina Sharma, SDM Marh, Special Guest, Vikas Gupta, Joint Secretary, Judo Federation of India and Secretary J and K Judo Federation was present among the dignitaries.
The Principal of the School, Dr. R.P Singh spoke words of encouragement and in his vote of thanks encouraged the participants as Judo is not a sport but discipline of the mind.
The SDM was impressed by the students.
The referees Suraj Bhan Singh, Vikas Dogra, Ritika Salathia and Arshi Nad are all Senior Judo Coaches of J and K.
Bhanu Pratap Singh (Sher-e-Kashmir) Judo coach of GD Goenka Public School had trained and disciplined his participants.
The winners in various weight categories are
Below 25 kgs U-12 (Boys): Aditya Singh of GD Goenka School (gold), Om Biloria of BSF School (silver) and Tarun Bali of GD Goenka and Akshit Raina of SOS School (bronze).
Below 30 Kgs: Ayush Raina of GD Goenka School (gold), Shivam Biloria of BSF School (silver) and Ishan Saini of KC International and Harshdeep Singh of JK Public School (bronze).
Below 35 kgs: Krish Bhat of BSF School (gold), Hitesh of JK Public School (silver) and Harish of SOS and Puneet of KC International School (bronze).
Below 40 kgs: Sonu Singh of SOS School (gold), Bharat of BSF School (Silver) and Dhanajay Singh of JK Public School and Nalin of KC International (bronze).
