Jammu: A team of Home Ministry officials on Sunday visited the border areas in Jammu District to assess the ground level situation after the cross-border firings and crop damage due to heavy rains and floods in the region.
The four member team from Ministry of Home Affairs, led by the Under Secretary in Union Home Ministry M.K Bhardwaj, visited border belts along International Border (IB) in Jammu District to assess the ground level situation after the firing and floods, a senior district officer said.
The team visited several areas in Suchetgarh, Bobiya, Treva, Chingiya in Arnia and R S Pura border Tehsil and interacted with the farmers and people of the border hamlets to know about the problems faced by them.
The people raised the two issues with the officials and demanded compensation for the ones who suffered huge losses due to the border firing and floods. They also demanded plots at safer places along the IB to escape the repeated border firing by Pakistan.
