KPs seeks three satellite townships for rehabilitation

JAMMU: Kashmiri Pandits Migrant community sought three satellite townships for rehabilitation of the community in Kashmir Valley.
Talking to reporters here on Sunday, Jagti Tenement Committee and Soan Kashmir Front President, Shadi Lal Pandita asked State as well as Central Governments to construct three satellite townships near Srinagar city for accommodating Kashmiri Pandit migrants.
“KPs from Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora districts will be rehabilitated in one township, from Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal districts in second township and from Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam districts in third township,” he suggested.
He also demanded construction of single storey quarters in all three townships comprising of three bedrooms, lobby, kitchen, bathroom etc for ensuring dignified living of the community members. He also demanded minority status to the KP community with due political reservation in Lok Sabha as well as J and K State Assembly for the Kashmir.
Each KP migrant family has suffered an annual loss of Rs 2 lakh on account of farming and use of properties in Kashmir during past 25 years of exile, he claimed, demanding one-time compensation of Rs 50 lakh to each affected family.
Asking that Prime Minister’s employment package has not been implemented in letter and spirit, he demanded for filling of all remaining posts to absorb the educated youth in government departments.
Prominent among others who were present in the press conference were Rajinder Dhar, Raj Nath Tickoo, Sunil Koul, Inderji Labroo, Raghunath Pandita, Ramesh Bhat, Shuban Raina and S.L Kar.
