He also set a deadline of December-end this year to the Public Works Department for completing the 2.1 km road stretch.
Mufti Sayeed made this announcement while undertaking an extensive tour of Anantnag and Bijbehara, during which he visited Government Women’s and Boys’ Degree Colleges, Anantnag and Bijbehara, Polytechnic College, Larkipora, Government Boys and Girls Higher Secondary Schools at Ranibagh, Brakpora and Bijbehara, Government District, Maternity and Childcare and Rehmat-e-Alam Hospitals, Ranibagh, Sherbagh and Dara Shikoh Gardens, Ziarat Sharief Reshmal Saheb and Kabba Marg and the Bar Association Chambers at Anantnag Court Complex.
Describing roads as the critical infrastructure around which overall development revolves, the Chief Minister sanctioned Rs. 9.51 crore for immediate construction of Mehndikadal-Ashajipora Bypass Road, which will provide alternate access to heavy vehicular traffic, thus easing congestion in the main town. The bypass will be completed by the PWD by the end of this year.
Mufti Sayeed also passed directions to Minister for Public Works to immediately macadamize roads within the main town, schools as well as college premises.
During his visit to Bar Association Chambers at District Court Complex, the Chief Minister sanctioned Rs. five lakh for purchase of new law books and referrals for the library. He said he will also explore optimal use of old SSP office building.
