JAMMU: Vice President Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, Th Kashmira Singh on Thursday decried police action against peaceful demonstrators in Mendhar and filing of a case against a National Conference leader and several others for seeking thorough investigations into murder of a local.
In a statement, Th Kashmira Singh accused the administration of harassing the party workers who were just highlighting the public issues and seeking justice in a democratic manner. Instead of looking into the issues raised by them, the police used force to quell the protesters, which he said is against the spirit of democracy.
The State Vice President urged the police administration to look into the allegations made by the people and book the culprits in the alleged murder case instead of harassing those who were seeking justice to family of victim.
“National Conference is strong votary of highlighting public issues in a peaceful and democratic manner and hopes that the administration will show due sensitivity towards public sentiment and try to assuage their aspirations “, he maintained.
Singh demanded immediate withdrawal of the case against the Block President of his party, Sarpanch and other workers. “By abusing official position, nobody has a right to throttle the voice of the people, who are within their rights to agitate their problems and seek redressal”, he added.
