Director SHD pays surprise visit to FACs

JAMMU: To take stock of the functioning of First Aid Camps (FACs) set up by Sheep Husbandry Department (SHD) Jammu for providing first aid to the migratory sheep and goats during the ongoing upward migration towards highland  pastures, the Director SHD Jammu Dr. Sant Ram paid surprise visit to various FACs at Udhampur, Chenani, Pachound (Kud), Patnitop and Sanasar area.

The Joint Director Extension Dr. Sanjeev Kumar besides other officers of the department also accompanied the Director.

During the course of surprise inspection at Veterinary Assistant Surgeon HQ Chenani, the Director inspected the records wherein he checked the availability of the medicines and status of various sheep and goat units established under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) and National Mission for Protein Supplement (NMPS). At First Aid Camp Sanasar the Director was apprised that till date 9409 sheep and goats have been provided first aid against various ailments. These flocks belonged to various breeders of Jammu division who have been migrating from their respective winter headquarters to highland pastures.

The Director also inspected private flocks of Nazakat Ali of Dhema having flock strength of about 700 sheep and 800 goats and that of Mohd. Kyas Din having flock strength of about 400 sheep and 200 goats and held interaction with the breeders. He asked them to take benefit of the facilities being provided by the department for their livestock and advised to follow the precautionary measures during the migration for safety and well being of their livestock and  wished them a safer journey to their respective destinations at Alpines.
