Shivani murder case; family protests, blocks NH

UDHAMPUR: Aggrieved family members and relatives of victim girl who was found dead from a Nallha in Office of the Director Education Jammu (DEJ) on Monday held a protest against the Jammu Police in Udhampur.
Protest was organised keeping the body of girl in middle of the NH near Holy Devika in Udhampur to show their strong resentment against the laxity shown by Jammu Police to find out where abouts of the victim (missing girl) who went missing on 7th March 2015, that too despite lodging a missing report with concerned Police Station Gandhi Nagar Jammu. Protestors blocked the NH for hours and disrupted the traffic.
According to sources, victim identified as 23 years Shivani daughter of Sher Singh resident of village Seuna in Tehsil Chenani and district Udhampur was doing LLB from Law Collage Jammu and was putting up in a rented house at Sanjay Nagar Jammu.
Sources disclosed that Shivani went missing on 7th March 2015 from Jammu and did not turn up back to the rented house and family members were informed about her being missing.
It was further disclosed that her family members lodged a missing report with Gandhi Nagar Police Station about her missing and today Jammu Police found her body chopped in multi pieces.
Police shifted the body to GMC Jammu and identified her it as that of Shivani who was missing and handed over the same to her family after conducting autopsy. Her family members while shifted the body to Udhampur took decision to cremate at Devika Ghat in Udhampur instead of her native town Seuna.
But irate and distressed family lost their control and placed the body in the middle of the NH near Devika in Udhampur and held a protest against the police in order to show their resentment.
Protestors alleged that police has not taken the matter seriously and not conducted fair investigation in the case, as she was murdered by some miscreants last month.
Protestors also raised slogans against the police for its utter failure to provide justice to aggrieved family. They appealed to the higher ups of the police to expedite the investigation and book the accused persons involved in the case otherwise people will come on the road in big way in days to come.
However receiving the information MoS Pawan Gupta, Dy.SP Gourav Mahajan and SHO Udhampur rushed to the spot and pacified the aggrieved family with assurance that law will take its course and no laxity on part of investigation shall be take in investigation.
On their assurance protestors lifted the body and criminated at Devika Ghat in Udhampur and normal traffic restored on NH.
