May Day: CITU terms BJP regime anti-working class

JAMMU: On the occasion of May Day, the symbol of International solidarity and unity of the working class, the J and K State committee of CITU organised a rally comprising of different affiliated unions and associations in front of Press Club, here on Friday.
Holding flags, banners and placards, the workers shouting slogans for the unity and integrity of the toiling masses of the world.
The rally passed through Dogra Chowk, Jewel Chowk, Gumat Bazaar and culminated at Indira Chowk.
While addressing the rally, Om Parkash, General Secretary, State CITU calling upon the working class to prepare for struggle against anti-people and anti-national onslaught of the BJP led government. He said that the BJP regime is a regime of all round attack on the wages and livelihood of the working people who create wealth for the nation and also attack on remunerative prices for the farmers who produces food for the people.
Comrade Sunita Bhagat, General Secretary, ASHA Workers Union, said that overhauling exercise on labour laws in favour of their masters in the capitalist lobby, the govts of the day both at the centre and the states have been directly patronizing the ongoing attacks on the workers.
Others spoke on the occasion were Kishore Kumar, President of Kisan Sabha, Ganesh, Railway Loading and Unloading Workers Union, H.D Bhomick, Bawa Ram of Nirman Mazdoor Union-Jammu.
Activists of National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today celebrated May Day as Sankalp Diwas.
Addressing a well attended rally of NMC activists, President of the NMC, Subash Shastri emphasizing the need to adopt a comprehensive policy to regularize the services of 61000 daily rated workers working in the various departments of the State Government till May 2015 so that new regularization could become operational from 1st June, as a Gift to the families of the working class, hoping that a decision in this regard would be taken in the first cabinet meeting in summer capital after Darbar move.
Shastri appealed to the Chief Minister, Dy. Chief Minister and Finance Minister to sympathetically consider their genuine demand for regularization of services on priority basic.
Among other who also spoke on the occasion were Rajan, Babu Khajuria, Ragupal, Surinder Kumar, Sham Lal Sharma, Sunil Kochhar, Darshan Bawa, Suraj Parkash, Sukhdev Singh, Com. Barkat Ram, Mohd. Shafi, Bopinder Singh, Sudesh Bhagat, Tarsem, Swarn Bhagat, Vijay Bhagat, Girdhari Bhagat and Dilip Bhagat.
Meanwhile, Dogra Labour Union (DLU) on the International Labour Day held protest against the State Government for not implementing the scheme for labour class of J and K.
Labourers hailing from different areas of the Jammu province assembled outside Press Club under the banner of Dogra Labour Union and raised slogans in favour of their demands.
Addressing the gathering, President of the Union, Kuldeep Raj Chalotra said that 1st May is a great day for labourers all over the world but unfortunately, after so many years of Independence the condition of the labourer is as it was as before the independence.
Union had demanded a labourer colony for labourer class but government do not hear our genuine voice, he alleged.
Others who spoke on the occasion were Charanjit, Kuldeep Kumar, Vijay Kumar, Balbir Raj, Raj Kumar and Darshan Lal.
BJP State General Secretary and MLA Kathua, Rajiv Jasrotia has extended greetings to the Workers on International Labour Day.
In his message, he reiterated government’s commitment to establish the dignity of labour, to bring transparency and accountability in the enforcement of Labour Laws and to promote workers’ welfare through good governance initiatives.
“Reduction of inequality and providing social protection to all is a step forward for inclusive growth. Providing social security to one and all is the priority for the government”, he said and added that industrial peace and harmony can be achieved only when the goals of employment and employability are in tune with the goals of industrial development and growth. “It is our vision to have an environment which is conducive for inclusive growth and development of the country,” he maintained.
A May Day State Rally was organised by J and K Panthers Trade Union at District Headquarters, Ramban.
Prof. Bhim Singh, Chief Patron Panthers Trade Union (PTU), who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, asked the working class, labourers and farmers to unite for the implementation of Labour Laws including Minimum Wages Act which have not been enforced till date.
Bhim threaten to launch a stir against the government in case it fails in granting right to wages and work for the labourers and farmers in J and K by 1st August, 2015.
The rally was also addressed by Masood Andrabi, Chairman, PTU, Sewa Singh Bali, General Secretary PTU, Anita Thakur, General Secretary JKNPP, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Kashmir Province President JKNPP, Padam Dev Singh Dogra, State Secretary PTU, Maqbool Malik, State Secretary JKNPP, Abdul Majid Dar and Ahmed Wani, District Ramban PTU.
Tributes were paid to the martyrs of Labour Movement who were killed by bullets in May Day rally for equal treatment in 1889 in Chicago.
SAMBA: The Congress workers celebrated May Day in which large number of private sector employees participated in function celebrated at Village Rakh Amb Talli Samba. The function was organised by Congress Labour Cell Secretary Samba Gambir Singh Sambyal in which Ex Minister Congress Manjit Singh was Chief Guest.
Former Minister and Congress General Secretary Manjit Singh expressed concern over low wage and suffering of labour class on the occasion.
Manjit Singh laid down stress on the constructive role of labour class for the nation which has been put to suffering in the absence of adequate wages.
Block President Samba Kumer Singh, Vice President Youth Congress Samba Sandeep Sharma, senior Congress leader and trade Unionist Chander Shaker Sharma were also present.
BHADARWAH: Low Paid Employees Federation celebrated May Day in Doda in which large number of employees from various government Departments participated.
While addressing the gathering comrade Niaz Ahmed Rahi and Farooq Butt asked the employees to continue their struggle for the cause of working class.
