BCC Bulls lifts PPCPL tournament cup

JAMMU: BCC Bulls lifted the Police Public Cricket Premier League (PPCPL) title defeating Simula Superstars in the final, played at GGM Science College Ground, here on Friday.
Bating first after winning the toss, Simula Superstars set a target of 137 runs for the loss of four wickets in 15 overs match. Dhruv Mahajan played a brilliant inning of 51 runs while Hilal Rather contributed 29 runs to the total. For BCC Bulls, Rompy picked two wickets while Amir and Satish shared apiece.
In reply, BCC Bulls played well and chased the target losing four wickets. Amir Sofi was the top scorer with 49 runs followed by Amir Haroon who added 39 runs to the winning total. Amir Sofi was declared Man of the Match.
In the closing ceremony, Dy. Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh was the Chief Guest and DGP K. Rajendra Kumar was the Guest of Honour.
The Chief Guest applauded the efforts of J and K Police for organizing such a mega sports event in which young cricketers from all over the State have been provided a platform. Dy. Chief Minister congratulated the winning team.
The DGP also commended the role of police in involving young generation in sports activities to keep them away from social evils. He also said that the motive behind organizing this tournament is to bridge the gap between police and public and to promote sports culture.
Among the senior officers Dr. S.P Vaid, ADGP Hqrs. PHQ, Dilbag Singh, MD PHC, H.K Lohia, IGP Tech. PHQ, Danesh Rana IGP Jammu Zone, Yoginder Koul IGP, Sham Lal Sharma IGP, Shakeel Ahmed Beig, DIG Jamm, Ashkoor Wani DIG Traffic, Pawan Gupta Director Prosecution PHQ and others were present on the occasion.
Chief Guest gave away the cash prize of Rs. 5 lakh and trophy to winner BCC Bulls and Rs.3 lakh and trophy to runner up Simula Superstars.
Rs. 2 lakh and Rs.1.50 lakh were given away to Chenab Gas Royals (3rd rank) and Jammu Khalsa Kings-XI (4th rank) teams respectively.
Man of the Series cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and trophy was awarded to Bandeep Singh of Chenab Gas Royals while a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 and trophies each was awarded to Amit Sharma of Simula Superstars who was declared Best batsman of the tournament and Amir Sofi who was Best Bowler of the tournament.
All the matches of the tournament were officiated by BCCI empanelled umpires namely Sudhir Singh, Saleem-Ur-Rehman, Amit Gupta, Sadiq Hussain Malik, J.D Singh and Harvinder Singh.
