JKAACL Celebrates Lohri

JAMMU: As a part of the Lohri festival celebrations, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) on Monday organised a multilingual Mushaira in the K.L Saigal Hall, Jammu.
Padamshree Dr Jatinder Udhampuri, prominent poet, scholar and intellectual presided over the function. Haroon Rashid, Secretary and Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL were also present in the presidium. Nationally acclaimed poets from the State participated in the Mushaira.
Extending Lohri greetings to people and appreciating the role of Cultural Academy in organising such an enthralling Mushaira, Udhampuri said that the poets of various languages very successfully reflected the message of love, brotherhood and communal harmony through their poetry. Speaking about the importance of Lohri, he further said that celebrating Lohri by organising multilingual Mushaira will help in spreading the message of unity among diversity.
Haroon Rashid said that Lohri festival is being celebrated with full fervour and gaiety across the State. He further said that Lohri, a festival of oneness, unity in diversity and brotherhood symbolises the message of peace, love and harmony in the region. He also highlighted the JKAACL’s diverse activities in the sphere of art, culture and languages.
Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary presented the vote of thanks where as Dr. Rattan Lal Basotra, Assistant Editor conducted the proceedings of the Programme.
Padamshree Dr. Jatinder Udhampuri, Usha Kiran, Brij Mohan, Ajeet Singh Mastana, Bhupinder Singh Bharagav, Rajpal Singh Mastana, Amreek Singh Kuka, Shakunt Deepmala, Sanjeev Basin, Rukhsana Malik, Krishan Sharma, Santosh Nadan, Piyare Lal Hatash, Noor Mohammad Majrooh, Anter Neerav, Gul Aksar, S.S Anand Lehar, Rahat Hussain, Balvinder Kour, Balvinder Singh, Dr. Nirmal Vinod, Dr. Pawan Khajuria, Sham Bhari and Puran Chand Bhadgotra enthralled the gathering with their poetic contributions.
S.S Bijral, former IGP, Dr. Monojit, Dr. Baljit Raina, Hardeep Singh Gill, Des Raj Danish, writers, poets and prominent citizens of the region were present during the Mushaira.
