Student, SI injured in police-students clash

MENDHAR : One student and one Sub Inspector were injured in a police – student clash on Tuesday in Mendhar.
According to sources, a student of BA Part III studying in Government Degree College Mendhar identified as Motin Khan son of Mohd Reaz Khan resident of Sakhi Maidan was injured when he was thrashed by a Police Sub Inspector Pankaj Singh and his PSO after a hot exchange over non-availability of documents of student’s bike.
The students who found student Motin Khan in injured condition, shifted him to Sub District Hospital Mendhar and held a violent protest against the police. Meanwhile SHO Mendhar Sadaqat Qureshi reached the spot and tried to pacify the students but they blocked the road and demanded stern action against the SI Police who thrashed and injured the BA Part III student.
Meanwhile SDPO Surinder Choudhary also reached the spot and pacified the students. He assured them that stern action will be taken against the person if he is found guilty. On the assurance of SDPO the students opened the road.
During stone pelting the SI Pankaj Singh and one Rohit Kumar was also injured and hospitalised.
“SI was later referred to GMC Hospital Jammu” BMO SDH Mendhar Dr Parvez Ahmed Khan said.
