Arjuna Awardee among 25 waiting for Govt jobs under sports quota

JAMMU: If one goes by Sports Council standards no sports person in Jammu and Kashmir would get selected for the time-to-time vacancies origination in government sector. This became evident when on Monday some of the prospective sports persons staged a protest over the lackadaisical attitude of the local sports council officials. In most of the cases the local official has failed to forward the names of the few of the sports persons who not only represented the State in National Games but in Commonwealth and Asian championship who have been denied the benefit of sports quota for jobs in government sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
The list of 25 include one Arjuna Awardee, a Commonwealth participant, two shooters a gold and silver medal winners in shooting and one bronze medal in taekwondo and athletic rest of them include medal winners in power-lifting at national level who are yet to get placement in government departments under sports quota.
