Congress Foundation Day celebrated in Jammu

JAMMU: Congress workers and leaders on Sunday held a function at Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) headquarters, here to celebrate the Foundation Day of the Congress Party, which completed 129 years of its foundation today.
Thakur Hari Singh, Vice President PCC presided over the function which was attended by prominent leaders of the party including functionaries of PCC, DCC, Blocks and frontal wings of the party.
The senior leaders of the party threw light on the history of Congress Party and its contribution and sacrifices for the freedom of the Country and achievements towards nation building in the post-independent period.
It was on this day in 1885, the Congress was founded and during its 129 years of the service to the nation, the Congress party remained committed to the principles of secularism and socialism and for strengthening the unity and integrity of the nation. It was the Congress party under whose banner the entire countrymen irrespective of caste, creed, colour or religion unitedly fought against the mighty British rulers for the freedom of the country and countless number of countrymen including several senior leaders of the party underwent great sufferings and supreme sacrifices to achieve freedom for the nation.
There were great challenges before the nation at the time India attained freedom and it is the result of the able leadership provided by the Congress party that Country today has emerged as a great power he World. India is recognized in the World as a messenger of peace, a vibrant democracy in a pluralistic society.
The Congress leaders and workers pledged to work dedicatedly to strengthen the party at all levels by adhering to its fundamental principles and policies.
Prominent among those spoke on the occasion included Ravinder Sharma-MLC Chief Spokesman PCC, Maheshwar Singh, Shah Mohd Choudhary, Dr. Rashid Choudhary, Thakur Manmohan Singh (all General Secretaries), Krishan Lal Gupta-Organizing Secretary, Neeraj Gupta, Rajiv K. Gupta, Narinder Gupta (all Secretaries), Dr. R.K Khajuria-General Secretary DCC Jammu(U), Pawan Gupta (Raju Mahajan), Suresh Sharma and Raj Kumar.
