DEERS organises plantation drive in Jammu

JAMMU: The Department of Ecology Environment and Remote Sensing (DEERS), in collaboration with Taawish College of Education Channi Rama Jammu organised a painting competition and Plantation drive on the topic ‘Save Environment’ under the project ‘My Earth for the School Children’.
The programme was organised to create awareness among the students about the importance of green wealth for survival of mankind.
Director Department of Environment Ecology and Remote Sensing and Chairman, Pollution Control Board Suresh Chugh was the chief guest and Regional Director, DEERS Q.D Malik presided over the function. Neha Mehta, Environmental Soil Conservationist was supervised the function.
In painting competition, the students who were adjudged first, second and third in junior section are Gurvinder Kour, Arjun Pandit, and Sneha respectively, while Imtiyaz Hussain got consolation prize.
In senior wing, Mansi Khanna, Sanjana Sharma and Kiran Panotra clinched first, second and third prize in Senior Wing respectively, whereas, Mandeep Kour got consolation prize.
In B.Ed Wing, Aanchal Sareen, Suman Bala and Sakshi Malhotra were adjudged first, second and third respectively, whereas, the consolation prize was given to Shaistah Kousar.
Meanwhile, a debate competition was also held on the topic ‘save environment’ during the programme.
