Jammu: BSP on Thursday alleged National Conference supporters have beaten the party workers who have come for the rally of BSP candidate from Nagrota constituency.
Bahujan Samaj Party national general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Narender Kashyap told reporters here today that the party has lodged a complaint in this regard with the police and asked the authorities to take strict action against them.
National Conference described BSP’s allegations as signs of frustration and imminent defeat of its candidate in the Nagrota Assembly constituency.
“It is not only the BSP that is finding Nagrota turf rough for its candidate but BJP, Congress and other contestants too were feeling the heat and making frivolous and baseless allegations in a fit of desperation”, NC Block presidents of the Nagrota Pt Rameshwar Dutt Sharma and Pt Sham Lal Sharma said in a joint statement here.
Refuting the allegations, they said that BSP volunteers faced stiff resistance from the people of Lower Kanna Chadgal when they attempted to lure them by offering money and liquor.
On being asked to move out of the village, the “unscrupulous” BSP men indulged in stone-pelting and sloganeering, the NC Block presidents claimed.
“Angered over the brazen attempt of BSP workers for indulging in unethical practices, the people of the area came out of their homes and raised slogans in favour of National Conference and its candidate “, they said, adding that Devender Singh Rana was a formidable candidate, set to register a landslide victory in the constituency.
Kashyap also condemned brutal Taliban assault on school students at Peshawar and expressed sympathy with the bereaved families.
“We condemn the killing of school students at Peshawar by the Taliban and expressed sympathy with the bereaved families whose children were killed,” he said.
