Secretary Horticulture encourages organic farming

UDHAMPUR: An awareness camp on canopy management and rejuvenation was held at village Khoon by Department of Horticulture Udhampur.
Secretary Horticulture, Sanjeev Verma who was the Chief Guest inaugurated the camp. Secretary Horticulture himself encouraged the farmers by holding on Farm Practical Demonstration of Training, Pruning, IPM, INM and low cost vermi tunnels besides adoption of organic farming by innoculum multiplication at farmers field.
Director Horticulture, A.K Sharma and Director Floriculture Kulbushan Sharma, also emphasised on role of integrated nutrient management for encouraging productivity in horticulture as well as floriculture sectors.
During the visit, Secretary Horticulture also inspected different projects and plantation raised in rainy season under MIDH 2014-15.
Chief Horticulture Officer Udhampur, Chaman Lal Sharma ensured Secretary Horticulture that he would hold such type of demonstrations in near future covering more Panchayats in the ambit.
A large gathering of orchardists from different Panchayats of Majalta Block participated in the camp and interacted with experts of the department viz District Level Subject Matter Specialist (Entomology/ Plant Pathology/ Pomology).
