JAMMU: To lodge protest against non-implementation of the financial package, sanctioned by the Government of India, PoJK Refugee Front on Monday held a Dharna in front of Press Club Jammu.
Led by Rachpal Singh Chib, the protesting refugees raised slogans against Provincial Rehabilitation Officer, Jammu and in support of their demand for implementation of the relief package.
While addressing the Dharna, Chib said that on recommendation of National Human Rights Commission, the Government of India conveyed approval for the grant of rehabilitation relief to the uprooted families from PoK but the same was not provided to the refugees.
The Provincial Rehabilitation Officer Jammu did not initiate the process of implementation of the four components of the letter, despite repeated appeals, he said.
A memorandum to this effect was also submitted to Divisional Commissioner Jammu on 08-10-2014 for action with copies to the Joint Secretary Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi, K.K Pathak on 15th October 2014 but no action has been initiated by the PRO Jammu till date.
The Front leader announced that the Dharna would continue till the Provincial Rehabilitation Officer Jammu implements the package. He also appealed the Government of J&K to look into the reasons for not implementing the package.
Sham Singh, Krishna Chib, Ch. Ajeet Singh, Bari Ram, Ishar Singh, Baldev Raj, Baj Ram, Suram Singh, Raghubir Singh Mohinder Singh, Jaswant Singh and Jeet Raj were also present.
