JAMMU: To make environment free from pollution and to educate the people on the benefits of a healthy society, the Environment Club of Dogra College of Education, organised a tree plantation drive Spearheaded by more than 200 B.Ed. students and faculty members of the college with a missionary zeal within the college campus.
The drive was carried out under the supervision of Bela Thakur, Convenor and Shamsher Singh, member, Environmental Club. The drive was held with an aim
The drive involved the planting of various indigenous saplings having medicinal and aesthetic value appropriate to the local environment and was an attempt to educate the students to create and maintain a pollution free environment.
Through this campaign, the students of the college were not only involved in a healthy exercise but it also made them learn about team work and filled them with a sense of responsibility, love and compassion.
Director-cum-Principal, Dogra College of Education, Prof. B.D Damral appreciated the efforts of the students and encouraged them to involve themselves wholeheartedly in the plantation drives from time to time around the year.
Earlier, Shefali Sharma, Vice Principal of the College, talked about the importance of such plantation drives which play a vital role in rural and urban populations.
Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust, Bela Thakur, Academic Coordinator, Dogra College of Education and prominent citizens from the locality were also present on the occasion.
