DB seeks objections in pension hike plea for handicapped

JAMMU: In a letter written by Chairman Disabled Welfare Association of J and K High Court regarding enhancement their pension, treated as Public Interest Litigation, a Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice M.M Kumar and Justice Tashi Rabstan after hearing Govt Advocate Meenakshi Bhuytal for the state appointed Advocate S.S Ahmed and Advocate Suraj Singh as amicus and directed State to file objections within four weeks.
In the letter written by Shushil Kumar Sharma, Chairman Disabled Welfare Association, that at present the pension of handicapped persons of J and K State is very low compared to other states. At present Uttrakhand pays Rs 800 to old age and handicapped persons and widows and in Harayana it is Rs 1,000.
In the letter it has been further submitted that during the last assembly sessions, it was decided that this shall be enhanced within six months, but no action has been taken so far.JNF
