JAMMU: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) called for nationwide movement for women rights during the 60th National Conference recently held at Amritsar, said ABVP State President Dr. Virender Koundal.
The national conference was held at Amritsar from 14th-16th November, 2014 which was inaugurated by Brig. K.S Chandpuri (hero of 1971 Indo-Pak War), Koundal told reporters here on Friday.
He added about 3,277 delegates from all over India were present there out of which 81 delegates including 50 boys, 21 girls and 10 teachers from J&K took part.
The main theme of the conference was “Nasha Mukt, Paryavaran Yukt, Swachch Bharat”, he said.
In this three-day conference, ABVP passed six resolutions related to education status, Naxalite activities, the emerging new face of terrorism, student politics and students’ union elections, present scenario of the country and drug free India.
In the memory of Prof. Yashwantrao Kelkar, National Youth Award was given to Arunima Sinha, the first women amputee to climb Mount Everest by Union HRD Minister Samriti Zubin Irani, said State Secretary Rahul Dev.
ABVP also resolved for nationwide movement for women security, dignity and rights, Suhasini Vasisatha said.
State Organising Secretary Pawan Sharma said that ABVP is going to launch State wide voter awareness campaign for 100% polling. He appealed to the youth to play decisive role in coming State Assembly elections for strong, transparent and corruption free government in Jammu and Kashmir comes to power.
