Jammu University VC releases research journal ‘Tasalsul’

JAMMU: A special number on Manuscripts of Tasalsul half yearly Research Journal of the department of Urdu was released by Vice Chancellor Jammu University Prof. R.D Sharma in a function organised at Prof. Gian Chand Jain seminar hall of the department of Urdu here on Thursday.
Prof. Qudoos Javed, former HOD Urdu Kashmir University presided over the function while Director National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL), Ministry of HRD Prof. Khawaja Ekram was the Guest of Honour.
Prof. R.D Sharma lauded the efforts of Urdu department and also acknowledged the contributions of Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik for bringing out a special number on a vital theme. He said that manuscripts are our treasures through which we can know about the old civilization of India. Vice-Chancellor also said that the contributions of Urdu department are immense as it also runs Community extension programmes.
Prof. Qudoos Javeed in his presidential address threw light on the importance of manuscripts. He called India as land of manuscripts. He also mentioned some of the important manuscripts which are lying in different libraries of Jammu and Kashmir. Regarding the special number of Tasalsul on Manuscripts Prof. Qudoos Javeed hoped that this number would provide the information to the budding scholars how to preserve manuscripts and also their importance.
Prof. Khawaja Ekram congratulated Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik for compiling the special number. He said that he had gone through the special number and found that the towering Urdu scholars of the country have written research articles on manuscripts which have been included in special number. He offered his full support to Jammu University for organising literary functions for the promotion of language. “In the past National Council for Promotion of Urdu language has provided financial assistance to the department of Urdu for organising National seminars on different themes which would also continue in future”, said Prof. Khawaja.
Earlier, Editor-in-Chief of Tasalsul Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik informed that this is the fifth special number of Tasalsul.
He further informed that a proposal has been sent to National Mission for Manuscripts for organising 40 days workshop for research scholars who are interested in Manuscripts. Prof. Sukhchain Singh, HoD Urdu Jammu University presented a vote of thanks while the proceeding of the programme was conducted by Dr. Mohammad Reyaz Ahmed. Prof. Zia-ud-Din, Jai Kumar Sharma, Special Secretary to Vice-Chancellor, Dr. A.R Manhas, Dr. Farhat Shamim, scholars and students were also present on the occasion.
