National Integration Week begins at GDC Kathua

KATHUA: National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua on Wednesday inaugurated the week long events on ‘National integration and communal harmony’ to be conducted as a part of National Integration Week from 19th to 25th November, 2014.
The function was inaugurated by Principal of the College, Dr. B.L Gupta who was also the Chief Guest during the function. The inaugural ceremony started with the lighting of traditional lamp.
Programme Officer NSS, Dr. Ram Singh presented the detailed schedule of various activities to be conducted during the week.
Former NSS Programme Officer, Prof. Sumanesh Singh recited poem highlighting national integration.
He also appreciated the enthusiasm with which NSS volunteers have been working for the betterment of society.
Dr. B.L Gupta called on the students and volunteers to take command of the integrity and peace process in the country and lead the nation into a new era of peace and unity. NSS Programme Officer, Dr. Suraya Partap Singh and Dr. Rachna also apprised the students of their power to create a new united and peaceful world.
The ceremony culminated with vote of thanks by Dr. Suraya Partap Singh.
A slogan writing competition on the topics Democracy and Communal Harmony was also held in which 45 volunteers participated and inked their views on the topics on paper.
Also present during the function were Prof. Anirudh, Prof. Jaswinder Singh, Dr. R.K Manhas and Dr. A.D Singh.
