POONCH: A comprehensive Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was organised on Wednesday in Government Degree College (GDC) Poonch under the chairmanship of District Election Officer (DEO) in order to generate awareness among the Young Voters and to motivate them to exercise their constitutional right, The Right to Vote.
While speaking on the occasion DEO elaborated the importance of vote and stressed that young voters should take a step forward not only to vote but to motivate the other family members to exercise their franchise. He urged that students should become the messengers in election process and voters education.
Dr. Zakir Hussain the Nodal Officer SVEEP briefed about the three phases of SVEEP, that is education, motivation, participation as well as facilitation. He expressed the role of young voters in disseminating SVEEP’s messages upto the household level and to each elector. He highlighted the use of modern technology lying in the hands of students which can bring a positive change in the society. The District Level SVEEP Team Members, Haroon Rashid, Anwar Khan, Nazarat Fareed, Dr. Yogesh, Shafiq Ahmed and Parvaiz participated in the programme.
Later on, a student’s rally was taken out in this regard from Govt. Degree College Poonch to Main Bazar Poonch. Besides students local residents, officers, officials, teaching and non-teaching staff participated in the rally.
