New Delhi, Nov 18 ( PTI) Two Delhi Police personnel were today suspended for allegedly detaining a 15-year-old boy?in a case of bicycle theft following which the minor had committed suicide.
The incident took place in East Delhi’s Karawal Nagar area two days ago.
“Head constable Ankit and constable Ramesh had allegedly brought the boy to the police station for questioning. Both of them have been suspended pending inquiry,” said a senior police official.
The boy hung himself on Saturday afternoon, the official said.
The family members?of the deceased have alleged that the two policemen had taken their child to the police station illegally after his neighbour accused him of stealing his cycle. They also accused the duo of demanding Rs 10,000 to shut the case.
Relatives of the minor also claimed that the police and the neighbours had harassed the boy, forcing him to take the extreme step.
