Army flags off educational tour of girl students

indian armyJammu, Nov 18 (PTI) An educational-cum-national integration tour of 23 girls from remote areas of Poonch district to Punjab was flagged off by the Army today.

The tour named ‘Karwan-E-Aman’ under Romeo Force for 23 girl students from Poonch to Jammu, Amritsar and Chandigarh was flagged off by Sector Commander Rashtirya Rifles and Zonal Education Officer (Surankote) Altaf Hussain, a defence spokesperson said today.

“The tour will serve as an excellent opportunity to the children to experience the vibrance, glory and culture of modern India. The tour will instill a sense of awareness and national pride in the young minds and expose them to the development, quality of life and historical places of interest in different parts of the country,” the spokesperson said.

The tour includes visit to Golden Temple, Jallianwalla Bagh, Wagah Border, Durgayana Mandir, APS Khasa in Amritsar.

Children will also be visiting Chandigarh to see Rock Garden, Rose Garden, IT Park among other tourist spots.

The Sector Commander and Zonal Education Officer interacted with the participants of the tour and asked them to spread the message of peace and take full advantage of the opportunity being given to them.

Meanwhile, in yet another event, General Officer Commanding, Romeo Force welcomed a group of unemployed youth from Rajouri district who returned after an educational tour named Safar-E-Roshni organised by Rashitriya Rifles Battalion.

The main aim of the tour, which began on November 10, was to enable the youth get acquainted with various employment opportunities available in the country.
