SAMBA: Samba bound passengers of a minibus had a chilling experience on Sunday when they de-boarded the vehicle near Mansar Police Post to lodge their complaint against unbecoming behavior of the driver and conductor but found themselves stranded due to unholy nexus.
Three of the travelling passengers, a noted social activist S. S Sumbria besides Suresh Kumar and Krishan Lal told STATE TIMES that they requested the driver to save them of noise pollution by tuning down the volume of blaring music system in the vehicle. “This enraged the driver and conductor, who not only misbehaved with them but played truant with the vehicle to scare them while the man on wheels kept talking to friends over his mobile phone”, they said, adding that feeling harassed they grabbed the opportunity while passing by the Police Post.
“While complaining to one of the policemen on duty about the unbecoming behavior of the driver and conductor, the another cop standing by signaled the driver to move away”, they said, adding that as a result nearly a dozen of them were left high and dry with papers and belongings of some remaining in the vehicle. They further said when the issue was taken up with senior officers; the incharge of the Police Post reportedly rang them up from somewhere, asking them to wait. “But, for next three to four hours, he was nowhere and we were left with no option but to fend for ourselves”, they said while lodging strong protest against police-passenger vehicle pliers nexus.
The Vehicle JK21B 1563 was on its way from Battal village to Samba.
