DEO Kupwara reviews arrangement for election process

KUPWARA: The District Election Officer (DEO), Kupwara, Itrat Hussain Rafique on Monday convened a meeting of Nodal Officers nominated for monitoring election related activities in the district.
It was informed that Model Code of Conduct, Media Certification and Monitoring Cell (MCMC), Election Expenditure teams and Surveillance teams have been constituted to oversee the said activities.
As many as 22 Camp Observers and 44 Village Awareness teams were put in place to monitor the election expenditure and programmes being organised in every Tehsil, Block and Panchayat Halqas under SVEEP in the district.
The Senior Superintendent of Police Kupwara who was also present in the meeting informed that 12 Nakas are being established to check the cash transaction by the contesting persons.
The District Election Officer Kupwara also held the video conference with the Nodal Officers and gave the detailed briefing to ECI. He informed that representatives of all political parties were sensitised about the poll process under the guidelines of the ECI about Model Code of Conduct, besides teams were constituted for monitoring the activities during the election.
The Election Expenditure Observer, Mohammad Manzar-ul-Hassan also convened a meeting with Nodal Officers and political representatives regarding the election expenditure and visited the Kupwara, Handwara, Lolab and Langate Constituencies and interacted with the officers and political persons regarding the poll related matters.
The District Election Officer, Kupwara also informed that with the issuance of election notification on 7th November, 2014 as many as 31 nomination forms have been issued among the contesting candidates by the Returning Officers of Karnah, Kupwara, Lolab, Handwara and Langate
