Jawan, girl killed as Pak violates ceasefire in Uri

Baramulla: In yet another border incursion, a 17-year-old civilian Gulshan Bano and a soldier was killed on Saturday evening as Pakistani troops violated ceasefire in Kamalkot area of Uri sector.
The firing occurred on Saturday evening from 5:15 PM.
Indian troops appropriately responded to Pakistan firing, according to agencies.
Police told the agency that Pakistan resorted to unprovoked firing on the LoC in Kamalkote area of Uri sector Saturday evening.
“They used automatic and light weapons to target Indian positions without any provocation,” a police officer said.
Meanwhile, over 130 ceasefire violations have been reported so far this year, the highest in the past eight years.
Since October 14, the ceasefire violations have left two jawans dead and caused injuries to 18 people
2013 has witnessed several fold increase in the ceasefire violations as Pak troops violated border truce more than 130 times along the LoC – highest in past 8 years.
On October 5, there were two ceasefire violations. Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire by resorting to heavy firing and shelling in Arnia belt along IB in Jammu in which five persons were killed and 34 others were injured.
There was another ceasefire violation during the day when Pakistani troops targeted forward India posts along LoC in Balnoie sub-sector of Poonch district.
Pakistani Rangers violated the ceasefire four times on October 3 by shelling forward areas and villages along LoC and IB in Gulmarg sector of Kashmir Valley and Poonch and Jammu sector in which a girl was killed and six persons were injured.
On October 4, Pakistani troops resorted to heavy firing and mortar shelling along LoC in in Poonch district.
On October 1 and 2, Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire twice along the LoC in Poonch district resulting in injuries to six persons.
