Centre asks Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir governments to tighten security ahead of polls
NEW DELHI: The Union Home Ministry has called for better security in the states of Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir for the upcoming assembly elections.
According to the government, terror groups might try to disrupt the poll process in Jammu and Kashmir as well as Maoist-affected Jharkhand. Therefore, both the state governments have been asked to deploy adequate security forces till the polls end.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Maoists had gunned down seven people in Jharkhand ahead of assembly polls.
The assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand will be held in five phases – on November 25, December 2, December 9, December 14 and December 20. Counting for both states is going to be held on December 23.
