‘Jammu botanicals helpful in management of cancer’

JAMMU: Assistant Professor Biochemistry and Plant Physiology, SKUAST-Jammu, Dr Vikas Sharma highlighted the use of botanicals from Jammu region in the management of cancer.
Speaking at the Asian Plant Science Conference, held at Lumbini (Bhairahawa), Nepal, Dr. Sharma presented his research paper entitled ‘The leaf part of Calotropis Gigantea possesses in vitro cytotoxic efficiency against human cancer cells of breast, colon, lung and prostate origin’.
The international conference was attended by more than 300 hundred delegates from 12 countries including India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, South Africa, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, USA, Jordan, Thailand, Finland and USA.
Dr. Vikas mentioned that he was the only candidate from Jammu and Kashmir. He has published two books and has 61 research publications to his credit.
