Women’s role imperative for strengthening democracy: Dutta

JAMMU: Seeking massive mandate for the National Conference candidates, Provincial President Women Wing Vijaylaxmi Dutta on Sunday urged the people, especially women to come forward in a big way and participate in the democratic exercise to elect a strong and stable government.
Addressing women workers at Jammu West and Suchetgarh Constituencies, Dutta said National Conference was the only party which could give a stable government to the State.
She said peoples’ massive mandate will empower the party to meet the challenge of holistic development with much more confidence.
Dutta exhorted women to come forward and become important part of the change through the power of ballot. She said National Conference has carved out a big role for women in decision making and provided them right in governance. In this context she made a mention of the reservation in grass roots level democratic institutions.
The Women Wing Provincial President urged the people to ensure the success of Tony with a big margin, saying National Conference alone can meet the urges and aspirations of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh besides their sub-regions.
She said Omar led government has laid a strong base for the State’s development which is discernible in each sector.
She also referred to the initiatives of the Chief Minister in seeking mega package for the refugees of Pakistan occupied Kashmir and Chhamb areas. She said the problems of the border dwellers are being taken well care of as the Chief Minister has taken up their issues at the highest level with the Union Government.
Dutta made a passionate appeal to the people especially women to elect the party candidates with a big margin from these constituencies.
