JAMMU: JK Public School, Kunjwani organized a visit to an old age home, situated at Amphalla, Jammu to inculcate the elements of empathy in the students of Grades XI & XII.
Ageing is one of the basic phases of human life which is attached to wisdom, maturity, social and economic stability with social recoginition and emotional fulfillment. Old persons are regarded as the “guiding stars” on account of their abundant wealth of wisdom and experience, enshrined in our Indian culture. Ageing is a great treasure which needs to be protected like a valuable resource.
“Old people, adorned with diversified capabilities, are an asset for our youth. They can be valuable guides for the younger generation. Psychology students interacted with them and gave essentials for winters and as a gesture of respect and love”, shared the Incharge of the trip Yashu Jain, PGT Psychology.
It was such an emotional sight to see the sparkle and shine in the eyes of aged people to find themselves amongst the young and enthusiastic students. They were not merely found as senior citizens but they sounded like recycled teenagers. Visiting an old age home was thoroughly experienced by the students & they considered it to be the best medium to connect themselves with the old generations.
The students also visited Sudhaar Bikri Kendra, the outlet of the products manufactured by prisoners who are still in Central Jail Jammu. The motto was to enlighten them regarding the vocational or occupational training being provided to the prisoners so that when they come out in the society, they become well adjusted and efficient enough to be a part of world of work and earn their livelihood easily. Students were enthralled by their products.
Principal JKPS Kunjwani Rajesh Rathore lauded the endeavours of Yash Jain and the students of Psychology from Grades XI & XII.
He asked students to cherish the memories, gathered during this visit.
He invoked them to plan out regular visits to Old Age homes on Sundays & other holidays along with their family members, as blessings from elders fetch more fortune than prayers.
