JAMMU: Police recovered three Kg poppy straw from two drug peddlers and arrested them on Sunday.
A Police team led by ASI Mohd Akram during a Naka at Satwari, signalled one motorcycle bearing registration No JK02BH/ 8262 on which two persons were riding from RS Pura towards Jammu. The motorcycle rider on seeing the police party tried to escape but was caught after a chase. During the frisking, about 3 KG poppy straw were recovered from their possession.
On questioning, the duo revealed that they were on way to sell the consignment among youth under the jurisdiction of Police Station Satwari.
The drug peddlers have been identified as Mehmood Shah son of Maqsood Shah, resident of Chak Tara and Rohit Kumar alias Binny son of Satish Kumar, resident of Darso Pur Miran Sahib who were put to thorough frisking.
In this connection, a case FIR No 49/16 under Section 8/15 NDPS ACT was registered at Police Station Satwari and the investigation has been started.
The recovery was made by ASI Mohammad Akram and Inspector Manjeet Singh SHO Police Station Satwari under the supervision of SDPO Gandhi Nagar Sachin Gupta, SP South Shahzad Ahmed Salaria.
