DGP stresses on devising new strategies to tackle residual terrorism

BARAMULLA: The Director General of Police J&K Dilbag Singh visited Baramulla District where he inaugurated multiple facilities for officers & Jawans. He unveiled a bust of martyr Ct Mudasir Ahmad at Bindaas Chowk, which has been named after the martyr. The DGP also chaired a joint security review meeting at District Police Lines, Baramulla. Accompanied by ADGP Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar, the DGP first visited Mirgund, Pattan where he was received by SSP Baramulla Rayees Mohammad Bhat, SDM Syed Faheem and other senior officers. DGP also inaugurated Barack, office cum residence of DO Mirgund. He inspected facilities and interacted with officers and Jawans besides reviewing crime records of Police Post. DGP inaugurated multiple facilities for officers and jawans at District Police Lines Baramulla including JIC Baramulla, Open Air Gym, renovated recreation hall and a dining hall. The DGP also inspected the canteen and other construction work at DPL and had lunch with Jawans. CRPF NKoR Sanjay Yadav, DC Baramulla Syed Sherish Asgar were also present on the occasion. DGP J&K also chaired a joint security review and asked young officers/ Jawans to work for eradicating residual terrorism besides directing for enhanced Police presence at shadow places. He asked for taking stringent action against terrorists and their sympathizers. He said that terrorists are desperate and are attempting to disturb peace. He directed officers to make small teams and set targets for them. He said that security gaps have to be plugged for which interaction and review meetings between forces should be conducted on a regular basis. Those who attended the meeting included ADGP Kashmir, DIG CRPF, NKoR Sanjay Yadav, SSP Baramulla Rayees Mohammad Bhat, SSP Handwara Sheema Nabi Qasba, SSP Bandipora Mohd Zaid, SSP Kulwara Yougal Manhas, SSP Sopore Shabir Nawab, CO 53 Bn CRPF Megh Raj, Dy COs of different CRPF Bns and all DySPs.
