CS-led panel to frame action plan for implementation of its recommendations

JAMMU: The Government on Monday constituted Union Territory Level High Powered Committee (UTLHPC) headed by the chief secretary for strategic urban planning in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The CS-led committee comprises of administrative Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department; Divisional Commissioner Kashmir/ Jammu; Chief Town Planner Kashmir/ Jammu; representatives of World Resource Institute (India); representatives of the Indian Institute of Human Settlements; representatives of National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA); representatives of JANAAGRAHA, Bangalore and representatives of Indian Institute of Public Administration, Delhi. As per the order, the chairman of the committee is empowered to nominate any person with strong academic and professional background in the field as a member of the committee.
According to an order, the CS-led panel has been mandated to frame the action plan for implementation of the remedial measures/recommendation of CHLC for strengthening urban planning of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. It has also been mandated to coordinate with Central High Level Committee (CHLC) constituted by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Gol for identifying gaps in urban planning in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. “The Committee shall be serviced by the Housing and Urban Development Department,” it added.
