Haryana Boys, Rajasthan Girls declared champions; J&K Boys secure bronze medal
48th Junior National Volleyball Championship

JAMMU: For the first time in the history of J&K Volleyball, host J&K Boys won bronze medal in 48th Junior National Volleyball Championship organized by Volleyball Association of J&K in collaboration with J&K Sports Council under the aegis of Volleyball Federation of India at MS Stadium, here on Saturday.
Earlier, Haryana won the boys title by defeating Rajasthan 3-0 Sets. In the keenly contested matches the players, some of them international, showed their excellent skills, latest techniques of the game. In bronze medal match, J&K team defeated Tamil Nadu. The host J&K boys team Captain Mannat Choudhary, who is an international volleyball player, exhibited his skills magnificently while Haroon and Musharaf too followed Mannat’s footprints in the game. The historical victory of J&K Boys volleyball team earned laurels from all dignitaries present on the Dias as well as volleyball lovers.
In girls section, Rajasthan outplayed West Bangal in the final and won championship trophy. The bronze medal match was won by Tamil Nadu.
In the closing ceremony, Member of Parliament Lok Sabha, Jugal Kishore Sharma was the Chief Guest, who appreciated the organizers and stakeholders for conducting the championship efficiently taking care of all aspects of Boarding/Lodging for over 1000 players and officials.
The Chief Guest praised all office bearers of Volleyball Association of J&K/Special Organizing Committee for their whole-hearted contribution in promoting sports culture in general and volleyball in particular in J&K UT.
Jugal also distributed prizes/trophies and medals to the winner and runner-up teams.
Vasudevan Vice-President Volleyball Federation of India, Raj Kumar Executive Vice-President, Ramavtar Singh CEO Volleyball Federation of India, Anil Choudhary Secretary General Volleyball Federation of India, Sunil Kumar Tiwari, Treasurer Volleyball Federation of India, Vijaypal Singh Chairman Control Committee, Vice-President Volleyball Federation of India, Nuzahat Gul, Secretary J&K Sports Council also graced the Dias.
The Chief Guest was honoured by presenting a memento by Raj Daluja, Working President and Kuldip Magotra Organizing Secretary Special Organizing Committee.
The officials engaged in the championship were also honoured with mementoes by office bearers of Volleyball Federation of India.
