Host J&K Boys win 3-1 against HP in Junior National Volleyball Championship

JAMMU: On the 2nd day of the week long 48th Junior National Volleyball Championship, the participants gathered from 26 States/UTs (52 Teams both boys & girls) all over the country have geared up their skills for competing in true sportsmanship in the championship.
After braving the chilly late night floodlit matches which concluded in late hours Midnight yesterday, the players acclimatized themselves with the climatic conditions of Jammu and displayed their skills in the field.
In the late night matches, J&K boys team opened their account by defeating Himachal Pardesh in 3-1 sets (25-15, 21-25, 25-20, 25-13) in the championship whereas, J&K Girls won against Uttarakhand in 3-0 Sets (25-17, 25-18, 25-22).
The Championship is being held at J&K after a gap of 14 years which would go in a long way to boost the morale of sports lovers in general and volleyball players in particular in channelizing their skills as per the latest standards of volleyball.
Ghulam Abbass Joint Director, Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of I & B, Government of India, was Chief Guest today who was honoured with a memento. Abbass lauded the efforts of organizers for organizing such a mega event in a magnificent manner highlighting thereof various aspects of youth in promoting national unity and eradication of social evils.
Raj Daluja, Working President Special Organizing Committee also graced today’s events and interacted players of various States/UTs of the country.
As many as 23 matches in boys section and 21 matches in girls section were played as per reports received so far and rests of the matches are in progress.
Anil Choudhary Secretary General Volleyball Federation of India, Vijaypal Singh Vice-President Volleyball Federation of India/ Chairman Control Committee of the Championship, Sunil Tiwari, Treasurer Volleyball Federation of India visited all the six volleyball courts setup for the conduct of championship and showed their appreciation for making the play grounds as per VFI specifications.
The matches were conducted by National/International Referees in coordination with Technical officials of Volleyball Association of J&K under the overall supervision of G.B Riswadkar who is the Chairman Technical Committee of Volleyball Federation of India.
