Jat Maha Sabha celebrates victory of achieving OBC status

JAMMU: All India Jat Maha Sabha (AIJMS) celebrated the victory of achieving OBC status for the community here ON Sunday.
Led by Ch Manmohan Singh, President AIJMS, the members of Jat community assembled near Press Club of Jammu and danced to the drum beats and tunes amidst intense jubilations apparent on the faces of the community members present on the occasion.
The community members honoured Ch Manmohan Singh by presenting a turban for his appreciable role in achieving the status of OBC for the community.
Talking to reporters, Ch Manmohan Singh expressed profound gratitude and thanks to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha for providing the OBC Status to the Jats of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that this was long pending demand of the Jat community which was fulfilled today with the grant of OBC status to the backward community.
The Jat leader asserted that though the victory has not come so easily, yet all is well that ends well and now while it is the time to rejoice and celebrate, at the same time there is a need to intensify the campaign rather struggle for getting the remaining promises payment of Rs 25 lakh as comprehensive settlement of refugees and complete ownership rights of custodian lands in their possession coming under the ongoing state and central Govt projects.
The senior most Jat leader of Jammu recalled that the Jat Mahasabha leadership had been striving since long and the efforts included meeting Governors, Lt Governors, Chief Secretary besides a series of meetings convened in this regard by the entire AIJMS leadership including District presidents, Tehsil Presidents right upto the ground level workers, Maha Adhiveshans at all levels in various states including National Capital, New Delhi followed by a powerful Nari Shakti Sammelan held on 9th Oct 2022 wherein over 2,300 females of AIJMS Jammu province participated to send a clear message to the UT administration to grant the OBC status or else face the consequences.
Ch Manmohan Singh said that it’s the result of first ever Mahila Adhiveshan of Jat community that just only after passing ten days, the government has forced to announce the OBC status to Jat community. He said Mahila Shakti has played a vital role in achieving this status.
The Jat leader said our victory has not accomplished with getting of OBC but our struggle will get accomplished when our community members get promises payment of Rs 25 lakh as promised by the PM Modi and complete ownership rights of custodian lands in their possession that have come under the ongoing state and central Govt projects in Jammu region.
Ch Manmohan Singh asked the community members to get united till all their demands are met. He also sought support of the entire Jat community to realize the dream of making the community well-off and educated. He said that Jats should ensure that their children become highly qualified. He urged the parents to remain abreast with the problems of their children and ensure that at no point of time they become psychologically so weak that they opt for drugs. He said that substance abuse is already eating up the vitals of society, therefore community elders should keep track of their children to make them safe from drugs.
Ch Manmohan Singh thanked the Jat community members came from Kathua Hiranagar Rajpura, Samba, Vijaypur, Ramgarh, Bishnah, Suchetgarh, Akhnoor, Jourian, Nowshera, Mendhar, RS Pura and Marh to celebrate the big victory. He also thanked the print, electronic and social media for their wholehearted support in making the years’ long struggle successful in the shape of OBC status.
